An Evening With River Explorers & Adventurists, Cody Perry & Eugene Buchanan

What: Join us for a night filled with fun! River explorers & adventurists, Cody Perry & Eugene Buchanan will be here to talk about their latest travel adventures.
Cody M. Perry: He will be presenting two short films documenting Rig to Flip’s journey across the Dolores River Basin; over 30 days and 400 miles. Working with numerous partners, the team was able to observe and document a river community that came together to embrace a place long forgotten and a river restored.
Cody M. Perry is a filmmaker that specializes in telling stories about the Colorado River Basin’s land, water and people. Cody has worked with conservation oriented non-profits, federal land agencies, outdoor brands and many voices from a diverse range of western communities to create stories that inspire awareness and engagement in the future health of our land, water and people. Cody comes from a ranching family in southern Arizona. He’s worked as an outdoor educator, a ski patroller and writer. His passion is telling stories about the West.
Eugene Buchanan: He will be chatting about his new book, “Comrades on the Colca: A Race for Adventure and Incan Treasure in One of the World’s Last Unexplored Canyons“. This time he’s in South America with a team of Polish explorers on a first descent down the Cruz del Condor section of Peru’s Colca Canyon, the deepest gorge in the world. He will also be talking about his book, “Brothers on the Bashkaus“.
A former reporter for the Denver Business Journal and 14-year editor-in-chief of Paddler Magazine, Eugene Buchanan has written about the outdoors for more than 25 years, from covering the X Games for ESPN.com to working for NBC at the Beijing Olympics. A Business/Economics graduate of Colorado College, where he captained his NCAA lacrosse team, the former ski patrol, kayak instructor and sea kayak and raft guide also enjoys a successful freelance career, with articles published in the New York Times, Men’s Journal, Sports Afield, Outside, National Geographic Adventure, Adventure Jour- nal, Skiing, Ski, Powder, Backcountry, 5280, Bike, Mountain Bike and other publications. A member of New York’s pres- tigious Explorer’s Club, he is also the founder of Paddling Life and a Contributing Editor for Powder and Canoe & Kayak magazines. An avid adventurer with several first descents to his credit, Buchanan’s passion for traveling, writing and pad- dling has taken him to more than 30 countries on six of the seven continents, from Australia and Africa to South America and Siberia. His first stand-alone book, Brothers on the Bashkaus, was released by Fulcrum Publishing in 2008. His second book, Outdoor Parents, Outdoor Kids, a winner of the Living Now Book Awards, was released by Heliconia Press in 2010. He lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
