This is a hands-on event. April will guide you step-by-step to make your own river-inspired watercolor painting: “River Sky.”
About April: April began running rivers in the mountains of NC back in 1996. While she’s been running rivers for some time, her love of water comes with a deep reverence of water, and maybe even some fear. It wasn’t until the ripe age of 41 that she felt ready for the challenge of kayaking the Grand Canyon. More recently, she pushed her skills running the technical and stompy Selway. By finding her river running tribe, and taking the time to practice and gain experience, she’s grown in her confidence on the river.
These days, she finds that community, practice, and experience are helping her grow into her identity as a ‘river artist,’ too. A friend told her recently, “I love how your adventures feed your art!” And they do.
At camp, April always has her kit—sketchbook, paint set, and brush—and sets up a ‘river studio’ on location.
“I feel blessed to have a river running my life, bringing me to wild places, offering adventure and beauty, and threading together the story of my life with family and friends. Art becomes the way I capture the essence of what the river gives me.”
Complimentary food and beverages will be provided.
